Shipping a car out of Tonka Bay

Tonka Bay is compact and almost entirely shaped by Lake Minnetonka. Seasonal and collector vehicles are common, but the peninsula layout means the loading location must be settled before the truck approaches.

Highway access

Highway 7 is reached through County Road 19, the only practical approach for a full-size transporter.

Pickup access for a full carrier

Residential loading is rarely suitable for a long carrier. Owners typically meet the driver closer to Highway 7 where there is legal room to stop and inspect the vehicle.

Winter

Snow banks leave little recovery room on the narrow peninsula roads, especially near curves and shoreline driveways.

Pickup window

Once a carrier is assigned your pickup window is normally 1–4 days, and 4–7 days in transit once loaded after loading. Hennepin County pickups are dispatched alongside the rest of the metro or region wherever that gets you a better truck.

You should always know which carrier has your car.

Open transport, operable sedan, outside the seasonal peak. Larger vehicles, peak-direction months and hard-access addresses move these numbers.

Auto transport pricing changes with carrier availability, season, vehicle size, fuel costs, pickup location and delivery location. The figures below are estimated market ranges for planning purposes, not guaranteed quotes. River Valley Auto Transport is a licensed broker: we negotiate with motor carriers and present the offers we actually receive, with our fee disclosed up front.

Seasonal timing from Tonka Bay

Southbound - October to December

This is when Minnesota empties toward Collier and Lee counties. Demand, not distance, sets the price. Booking three to five weeks out from Tonka Bay gives you a real choice of carriers, and shipping before the first significant snowfall removes the access problems described above entirely.

Northbound - March to May

The return half of the migration. Pickup windows widen in Southwest Florida while delivery back into Tonka Bay stays straightforward, so the constraint sits at the Florida end - particularly for gated communities and Marco Island.

Popular routes from Tonka Bay

Most Tonka Bay shipments run the Minnesota–Florida corridor: south to Naples, Fort Myers or Cape Coral in the fall (about 1,801 miles, 4–7 days in transit once loaded), and back north to Hennepin County in the spring. These route guides cover each direction in detail.

Tonka Bay car shipping questions

How much does it cost to ship a car from Tonka Bay to Naples or Fort Myers?
There is no flat rate. Pricing on this corridor is built from four things: the roughly 1,801 road miles to Southwest Florida, the size and weight of the vehicle, open versus enclosed transport, and which direction the season is running. The ranges shown on this page are planning estimates only - the real number comes from live carrier availability and we present the offers we actually receive.
How long does pickup take in Tonka Bay?
Once a carrier is assigned, the pickup window is normally 1–4 days. In the October to December southbound peak and the March to May northbound peak that window is the part that stretches, not the driving time. From Tonka Bay plan on 4–7 days in transit once loaded after loading.
Can the truck reach my street in Tonka Bay?
Residential loading is rarely suitable for a long carrier. Owners typically meet the driver closer to Highway 7 where there is legal room to stop and inspect the vehicle. We settle the loading point before the carrier is dispatched, so nothing has to be worked out on the driver's arrival.
What happens if it snows around my Tonka Bay pickup date?
Snow banks leave little recovery room on the narrow peninsula roads, especially near curves and shoreline driveways. A weather hold delays a pickup; it does not cancel your order or change your agreed rate.
Which highways does the carrier use out of Tonka Bay?
Highway 7 is reached through County Road 19, the only practical approach for a full-size transporter. From there the southbound run follows I-35 and I-75 toward Southwest Florida.
Is River Valley Auto Transport the trucking company?
No. River Valley Auto Transport is an owner-operated, federally licensed and bonded broker (USDOT #2273104 / MC #774106), in business since February 2012, and the Midwest division of Enterprise Auto Transport. Enterprise Auto Transport—not the River Valley office—is BBB Accredited with an A+ Rating. A separate licensed motor carrier hauls the vehicle, carries the cargo insurance on it and issues the Bill of Lading.
